Stabiler Boom in der iranischen Automobilindustrie trotz weltweiter Autokrise

car_2

HighSpeed-Monorail Train (like Transrapid) in Iran - Agreement between German Company and Khorasan-Razavi Province (Iran)

transrapidIran and the German Engineering & Consulting Group "Schlegel" have signed an Agreement for a high speed monorail train between the holy city of Mashhad in west-iran and the capital Tehran.
It seems, that the project is not under the official German "Transrapid"-licence from ThyssenKrupp and Siemens, but a similar one developed by German,Iranian and chinese Engineers with cooperation of German experts from Schlegel Consulting. It would be the longest ever built route for a high speed monorail train in the world (distance between Tehran -> Mashhad, 800 km)

Schlegel is a consulting and engineering group with high reputation and a long tradition. Anton Schlegel established the company in 1931. Since then the company guided and finished many infrastructural projects in Germany, although one project in Iran (Shiraz Water and Wastewater
Company (SWWC)).

Iran is willing to invest 12 billion euros for this project.
In the next years some experts believe that about 40 billion people could travel to this holy pilgrim city each year.
Some Facts about the Transport Situation In Mashhad.

Airport

Mashhad is served by the Mashhad International Airport which handles domestic flights to Iranian cities and international flights, mostly to neighboring, Arab countries.

Metro

The Mashhad Urban Railway Corporation (MURCO) is constructing a metro system for the city of Mashhad which includes four lines. The first phase (line) of the metro is expected to be finished by 2009-2010.

Rail

Mashhad is connected to three major rail lines: Tehran-Mashhad, Mashhad-Bafgh (running south), and Mashhad-Sarakhs at the border with Turkmenistan. Some freight trains continue from Sarakhs towards Uzbekistan and to Kazakhstan, but have to change bogies because of the difference in Rail gauge. A rail line is being constructed off the Mashhad-Bafgh line to connect Mashhad to Herat in Afghanistan, but has not yet been completed and one is planned to connect to the Gorgan railhead and the port of Bandar Torkaman on the Caspian Sea to the west. Passenger rail services are provided by the national company R.A.J.A. and all trains are operated by R.A.I., Rah-Ahan Iran, the national railway company.
